Dedication to a real man!

He makes me so proud!
Words cannot even begin to express _..- The love and respect he pours into my life blows my mind sometimes. I know I've found something amazingly special in this incredible man.
I am so proud of the person he is.
xoxo
With all my love.

It Begins...

Today being Tuesday means that I have now completed Day 2 of my ten week teaching internship at Taree Christian Community School.

Monday morning, bright and early I was out of bed. The alarm buzzed at around 6:45am to which I let out a mighty groan. I had spent all of sunday feeling relatively calm and even mentioned at one point how I was surprised that I really wasn't nervous. However in true Jessica style it was once I was given an opportunity to really think that I began to worry.
As I lay in bed at 10pm [attempting a good nights sleep, which actually begins before the wee hours of morning] I could not for the life of me sleep. I was nervous...really nervous. True to form Timmy rang and we chatted for a good 45minutes, before he put the foot down and told me to get some sleep. I recited some bible verses which have an history of calming me and I think at around 1pm I finally drifted off.

Monday morning was probably the worst of it. Once you get me talking, I'm pretty chatty, but naturally I'm fairly soft spoken. So as I sat there in the car, in the carpark I felt freakishly close to tears, before I snapped myself out of it and told myself to take a breath "Your gonna be fine!"

In I wandered

And how should the day begin? Well of course God is merciful and of course he had already knew I was going to be nervous, and so of course he wants to calm me...in the best of ways and begins the day with Praise and Worship..."How Great is our God, Sing with me How Great is our God..."

I was feeling better already.

Met my prac teacher, and had a good chance to chat with her today. Can I say that she is absolutely lovely, what I admire most is her humble honesty. I think that I can say with confidence, that she is the fisrt prac teacher who I do not feel, even slightly patronised by. She's also a fantastic teacher.

The students are your typical, and in the staffroom I heard mentions of them being 'difficult' however difficult is not the word I'd use. After the class I shared a room with last Practicum, these kids are by no means hardcore, if anything perhaps a little immature for their age. [but then, who am I to judge :p]

_..- And so tomorrow I teach my first lesson. Honestly I am nervous, but the more I teach, the more I get used to it, and pretty soon I'm right at home.

Wednesday: Handwriting
Thursday: Handwriting, HSIE and Computers
Friday: Art.

It's a scary business heading somewhere that you know no one, and a part of me desperately wants to avoid it. But another part says that I will never reach my dreams if I'm unwilling to change, if I'm unwilling to rock my world and struggle for a while. Nothing worth anything is always going to be easy - and it shouldn't be, because if it is then it requires nothing of me.
But when it gets tough, when I have to dig deep, thats when people see what I'm really made of - and sometimes - yes sometimes I even make myself proud.

I was made for this, and I'm gonna give it all I've got.

Lets share prayers some time.

xoxo

Time...

In just waiting for this page to load, I realise just how long it has been since I have created a post of any real substance, and I appologise sincerely for the lacking of such for so long.
Lets see shall we...

I have officially moved out of Armidale. As of the 30th of June I am no longer a resident of Wrights Village; anyone who knows me well, knows that I am indeed an incredibly sentimental creature, so yes it was sad to be leaving. After four years living in the place called Wrights Village, the cheaper version of University life I've grown rather attached. If anyone is considering a move to Armidale, and wants a great place to live then I can recommend 'The Village' it's been fun, and it's a bit sad to be leaving it now.

Wrights Village [flats and valleyball court]

So for at least the next 10 weeks I'll be living at home with Mum and Dad. The interesting thing is, that Kate is living with mum and Dad also, and now it seems that Matt is moving back in for a while too. It's all actually rather ammusing, like a circle of life almost. As I find myself coming to a close of this stage in my life, the stage of the student, and preparing myself to step into life as a 'real adult' it's like beginning right where I left off four years ago; living at home with Mum, dad, Kate and Matt. To be perfectly honest, there is something incredibly comforting about that fact, gives me a renewed strength. To know that four years ago I found myself here, terrified, but here I am at the end of it, stronger and happier than ever before - I KNOW that I have what it takes!!

Other happenings...

Right now I'm reading 'The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an ordinary Radical' By Shane Claiborne, and can I just say that it is Fantastic. I find myself so inspired by him and his passion. But more than anything it is his honesty and humble spirit which makes him most appealing as a storyteller. If you get the chance have a squiz.

Also, right now I can't get enough on the Track "Imprint" by Double Drive, from their album 'Blue in the Face' great band - great track.

On Monday I begin my teaching internship. 10 weeks in the primary school system, by the end of it, taking on the whole teaching load, supported by my Prac teacher. It's a scary sort of excitement, knowing that this is my chance to shine, and really show what I've got. Depending on my performance during this internship, is the difference between work and no work. I know I have what it takes!!

what am I missing? Missing Timmy - we celebrated 4 months on Saturday, and he was in town for the the festivities at Belles place as we celebrated Den and Cathy's last night in NSW before they headed back to Melbourne. Was rad to see them here is this state and I look forward to their next visit to our little part of the state.

I'm loving my time with Katie, getting to know Katels all over again. We've always been best friends and I never doubt that we always will be...but living in the same place and having the opportunity to chat on completely transparent levels means that we're reignited that level of closeness that has been lacking slightly over the last few years. I love that time.
In fact I love my time with my family, and I'm more than happy to be here now.
I'm looking for places and hoping to have a deposit on a house by this time next year. So I'm enjoying my time living at home, while I have it.
I am growing up, and being a kid really doesn't feel all that long ago.
But these times are exciting, and I'm glad to be here, and even more thrilled to be adoring it.

Stay beautiful and keep smiling at the day :D

I found my new song...

Like a band of gypsies We go rolling down the highway
I’ve come a long way riding with my friends They stand beside me When the world’s not going my way
We may be losers but we’re winners in the end

We are undefeated And we’re still believing In the one thing that has gotten us this far
And we can’t be beaten and we’re Standing on shoulders of the ones who went before us
And we’re fighting back with love

Trouble always finds me Everywhere that I go A cloud above me Like a kite upon a string
Here in the valley, the valley I know there is a mountain top Where I can stand and sing

Love conquers all

Altered Realities...

I Found this email in my sent foulder of my inbox.
Thought I'd share it here...

"Hey...
seems your email slipped under the radar and I had no idea I had
recieved it.

so, stuff about me eh...well if I follow suit and do a sort of sale of
the century style intro also...

I was born on the 15th of September, 1984 in the small birthing ward
of Shalhaven community hospital, but that was not all to occur that
night, for half an hour later my twin and best friend was born. I grew
up in the sticks, a small country town in New South Wales.

At the age of 5 I attended school for the first time, and by the age
of 7 I had decided that "when I grow up" i wanted to be a primary
school teacher, inspired by 2 great teachers in my life.

---Skip ahead a few years---

Now I am 20 years old and just completed my 2nd year of the Bachelor
of Education degree at University, I'm half-way!!

---Plans for the future---
Travel, I want to use my teaching to travel the world, and try and
make it a better place.
I want to volunteer on the African Mercy Ship, not sure for how long,
but it'll happen eventually.

I want to teach all over the world, though I have this incredible
desire to teach in some of the poorest regions of this planet, I
believe that yes we can keep giving them food, we can keep giving them
clothes, OR we can give them knowledge, we can give them education and
therefore, we equip them with the power to break the poverty cycle and
change their world!!

WOW!!

man, i get so passionate about it, I love what I do.

It was great to get your email, and I hope that I will hear from you
again..

I do have one question for you...what are your hopes for the future?

Always
Jess :D"
It's interesting that I wrote those things just 2 years ago. Truth be told I still hold onto those incredible passions, however in the last couple of years God has been working in my heart amazingly. Truth is I still want to do missionary work one day, I still want to adventure on the African Mercy Ship as a voluntary teacher, however I now have a greater passion for being right here, In Australia.
Over the last year or so, God has been revealing more and more the harvest that is ready right here in my very own nation, and to work with the children of this beautiful sunburnt land is an incredible honour and priviledge. I will do the missionary stuff one day, but I no longer see it as my permanant residence, I love Australia, I am so proud to call myself Australian and I more than anything, want to see God glorified right on this very land I stand. For one day he will be glorified from every land of this great earth, and there needs to be willing harvesters everywhere, why not right here, I don't need to go to the other side of the earth to see mighty miracles of salvation.

Ooooh Shiny!!

seems I'm moving up in the world of Technology...
As of last week I became the proud new owner of a silver, Motorola V3 RAZR. Pretty big step up for the girl who pranced happily about with her $50 phone then her $1 bargain bin phone.
Though for the record, to show that I'm not a complete sell out, it was a gift, from a special certain someone with employee discounts from Dick Smith.
Currently I'm sorting some techni/network probs which are preventing me from sending piccies, but let me know if your phones piccie compadible and I'll send some your way.

I'm stepping out of my personal mobile stone age...and actually rather enjoying it :)

Wheres Wesem?

yes, so I'm procrastinating. Currently I'm working on my final 3 assignments for...well...EVER!
coming to this close of sorts has got me thinking, thinking about life after university.

it's a curious thing really; having absolutely no idea where in the world I will be next year. I have a fairly confident prediction that it will indeed be Australia, however where in this incredible little island is anyones guess.
lets consider my options for a moment shall we;
  • I didn't tick the 'anywhere in the state' box so there's no chance I'll end up out the back of Burke [anything with that name's worth a hesitation ;) ]
  • My Aunt has been encouraging me to head to Melbourne and give the victorian education department a crack
  • I'm doing my internship at Taree Christian Community School, and while talking to the Principal he hinted at the fact that if my internship goes well there is a very real possibility that they're looking for new staff next year
  • Tims Mum Geraldine has been encouraging me to head to QLD and grab some teaching work in Brisbane.
  • I have it on good authority that Coopernook Christian School is on the lookout for 3 new teachers next year.

I'm ready for a change, Armidale has been incredibly kind to me, but I'm ready to move on.

You know I'm not worried, I'm really not.
I was at Bible study last week and we usually begin the time together with some worship and prayer. During the worship time I was really laying everything down before God, and as I was placing it before him, all my concerns and worries, all the stresses and confuzzlement I started to feel myself freaking out - but in that same moment, I felt the holy spirit pressing on my heart and in an instant I felt peace, as I stood there in this sort of quiet awe, I felt the words fall into my mind, "For I know the plans I have for you, say the lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope"...then a few moments later these came "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your path"
God is so good.
Not only did I feel the peace, but I knew it was God because he greeted me with his word, and his word is good, it is strength to this life.

So I go...and I trust.

Be blessed lovely brothers and sisters
Lets share prayers.

P.S. Tim recommited his life last sunday night. He's coming to church. :D :D :D
AWESOME!

differences.

So the application has been completed online, and the details have been posted to the department of Education and Training.

The date is starting to get close now, 27th of June is the interview and I begin my internship on the 17th of July. I know I've posted about all of this previously, but you'll have to forgive me, it's kinda really on my mind at the moment.

*listening to "Into the West" By Annie Lennox- and falling in love with it a little more.

Thinking that I'm going to have to go over and see Laura soon. She rang earlier today about catching up for coffee, I was in the middle of preperations for DET information which needs to be posted no later than today, so I was a little frantic and stressed, may have been a little short with her. Which unfortunately is how I'm forced to be with her when my patience will not allow - Laura has lived most of her life as an only child, I love her immensley, however sometimes the basic, more-than-one-child-lessons learnt by anyone with siblings have remained unlearnt by Lozza and so at times she can come across as pushy and needing things her own way. I am generally patient, however today I really didn't have the time to teach her the lesson necessary and the conversation felt tedious all the same;

Lozza: Hey Jess, wanted to do coffee today, you up for it?

Jez: Sorry Loz, I'm frantic at the moment trying to post off this stuff to the D.E.T.

Lozza: So your not coming then?

Jez: Raincheck? I can't really afford it till wednesday, and this stuff has to be done today, or else I'll be up that creek we all know and love, without my paddle.

Lozza: So I have to go for coffee on my own then...well I won't look half ridiculous on my own will I!

Jez: Well if you want coffee badly enough you won't mind doing it on your own. I'm sorry Loz but I can't do it today - my timetable isn't always going to fit yours - Today it obviously isn't...tomorrow maybe

Lozza: Well I was looking forward to seeing you - I would have hoped you'd have the same enthusiasm.

Jez: I'm struggling to be enthusiastic about anything right now, all I know is this HAS to be done now...we will do coffee soon, and I'll look forward to seeing you, it just can't be today - at least try to understand where I'm coming from, lozza, I'm too stressed to have to deal with anything else right now...I need you to understand that, please.

Lozza: Oh I understand fine...no coffee today.

Jez: but soon, tomorrow's clear for me...

Lozza: well you'll just have to hope my timetable lines up with yours then...

Jez: Yeah I will, and if it doesn't there will be other opportunities...life goes on Lozza, it's not like we'll never see each other again.

Lozza: *huff*

Jez: but alas, I have to go, I need my other hand back to shuffle these papers. I'll see you tonight anywhoo, I'll pick you up at 7 for small group.

Lozza: Yeah righto...

*Hangs up*

Slightly started by the abrubt hanging of the phone without a farewell. Momentarily considered 'forgetting' her for small group...which was quickly followed by the thought to be gracious.
It's interesting being confronted with people who have lived very different lives from your own. I'm meeting more and more of them of late, and they do test me, they test my character and make me realise how much further I have to go in order to truely love with a holy love.
But I'm trying, so thats got to count for something, surely.

I will chat to Laura soon, and I'll practise patience.

Life.

Have I mentioned that I hate computers?...okay so maybe hate is a strong word, I dislike computers. I can work them, work the basics, type, internet, photo's etc etc ect. But ask me to explain the inner workings of a computer, the cache, CPU all that sort of jazz and I'm royally screwed. Thus I shall have to resubmit that assignment. Infact I think Tim will be helping me with it this time.

So yes. Life, my walk.
in one word...GREAT!...
We've been working through the DVD teachings of John Bevere "Drawing Close: a life of intimacy with God" and can I say this. If you ever have the chance to read that book or see the DVD teaching, you have to grab it with both hands and not stop drinking till its done. I invested in the book because the teaching has been so fantastic I don't ever want to forget it, I want to be able to be reminded of it constantly.

For that last few weeks I've been pretty much living at Laura and Tims place. Spent last night sitting in the lounge room with Tim, Laura and Suzii watching "House" - have I ever mentioned that I love that show. It was great. There is something incredibly fulfilling about spending quality time with people, talking and laughing, no agenda's no 'must-do's' just loving the company and not wanting to leave it.
I realise that I have been incredibly blessed in this life. God has been kind - sometimes too kind. Nevere failed me, never left me hanging, never given me less. He is wild, dangerous, never tamed, but always good.
I love my God and I will proclaim that untill the day I die.

I'm sitting here in the computer labs at Uni - received a text message from riss this morning, confirming that class was at 11 and that she would see me in computers, yet here I am at 11:55 and there is no sign of riss. Three girls already tried for the seat beside me and I had to, as politely as possible, tell them to back away before I started swinging the bag that was minding the seat. ;)
I've decided that the next person to ask for the seat can have it - I can already picture the glares I'll get from the 3 other girls who were rejected. ah well, they found other computers, I'll be leaving as soon as I submit this anyway. I have a lunch date.
Bec and Riss every thursday, at 1pm in the bistro. Chips and Gravy - mmmmmmmmmmmhhmmmmmm...
I'm starving, right on cue as I typed the words 'chips and Gravy' my stomach let out a huge growl - food sounds good. havn't eaten today yet. I know I know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, my mum said the same thing to me, yet ironically, she never ate breakfast either - children mimic, what can I say :P

So yes, I just realised how boring this must be for you - I'm pretty much just typing everything as it comes into my head, no internal dialogue, just letting it ooze all out.

I have to get copies of every prac report I've had, to send off to the Department of Education so that I can actually get a teaching Job.

My big interview has been booked - I will be interrogated and they will decided whether I can teach on the 27th of June. Prayers would be most appreciated. but I feel confident, If I didn't have what it takes then I would like to think that at least one of my prac teachers or lecturers would feel the need to let me know. that is if I hadn't caught on myself. I still get passionate about teaching - and if the day ever comes when I don't then I think I'll leave it, kids don't need crusty angry teachers who really don't care.

My internship has been officially confirmed today. From the 17th of July untill the 22nd of September you will find me, 5 days a week at Taree Christian Community School, with year 6. I'm looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to being known as Miss Braybrook again. Yes, Yes it is a power trip. and I love it. :D

well I shall irritate you no more. I will go. You may have noticed that It's only 12 and I've said I don't meet the girls till one. But I'm thinking that I'll go find my bench from last week in the main courtyard. using my bag as a pillow and I'll sprawl myself along it, and soak up the sun. I swear sometimes that I 've gotta be a reptile, I'm cold blooded for sure.

alas that bench sounds awesome, and lunch sounds even better. Have an awesome day.
And call me sometime. I miss my people, but more than that I miss my friends, my brothers and sisters, the ones I love.

Jesus the Man!
I'm so in awe of what 'Jesus the God' did.
But Jesus the man was so hardcore, so radical.
I so sO SO want to be like him.

quick update [comes with free apologies]

I know I haven't blogged in yonks. In fact I haven't really been online much recently. I'm coming to the last 3 months of Uni - FINALLY! which means that I head out on my teaching internship very very soon, and yes I'm nervous. This ones big, depending how I go on this, it could mean a job at the end of it. I managed to score the internship at Taree Christian Community School with Year 6 and it's going to be fantastic, everyone who I have spoken to has said it was fantastic!

So what's been consuming my time? Assignments and official teaching document preperations. Yes it's all great fun :S. But alas it needs to be done and as much as I wish the blog didn't have to suffer, for now it shall have to.

But to leave you with a really quick update;

Lozza made the big step and dyed her [blonde as it can come] hair dark brown

Personally I love it. looks so glossy and lovely - though I've always been a dark hair sort of gal.

And Waje Fell in love with Tims Cat Dizzy.

All in all, life is Crazy/Beautiful [<----- one of my favourite movies BTW ;) ]

Favourite girl comes to town!

Katie's come to Armidale and I'm stoked!

Early Friday morning Kate and I left Forster and headed to Armi. we arrived at around 11am and was greeted by the ever beautiful laura - Katies first introduction for the day, and exactly as I suspected the two of them got along, dare I say, 'like a house on fire'. Kate then got the intro to Timmy [who was still in bed..haha] before long we were all chatting and laughing...Kate slots straight into life here, it's like she's always been a part of it all.
We headed out to lunch at the Kilda and by the end of the meal I had Tim completely mortified that I would talk of such things in public as I started a conversation about Phantom Poohs [Nods to Burks for that one ;)]

At around 6pm we got a call from Tim inviting all us girls up to the lads place for a BBQ, to which we were more than happy to oblige - never say no to a free feed.
We hung around for a good three or four hours playing some drinking games, though Jase was in charge of the deck of cards and you'd better believe he was making up his own rules :P but it was laugh worthy and most of the rules picked on Tim, so it was a hoot.

Brittany offered to drive us all across to the Newie at around 11pm and so we all shifted ourselves to a new venue, grabbed a table pretty quickly and had an absolute riot of a time. Great Great times!

Katie with Dickie [aka Ben]

Tim [the other one] and Laura

Lozza, Katie and I

[half of] Alex, katie, Matt, Nathan, Lozza and [a smippet of] Tim.

Katie and I head back to Forster, we're thinking Tuesday. So I still have another 2 days to show her around my little world up here. Fantastic - looking forward to introducing her to the masses at Sunday night service, hoping to confuzzle some people by sending her into church with laura and Waje first, then watch them double take when I walk in a few minutes later. We don't look identical, but close enough to make people hesitate.

I love my Katie, always will.

Gorgeous katie and I.

Spontaneous Friday Evenings

Great night with my girl Loz.

We headed out at around 10:30pm to Nicks Party - eventually finding ourselves out at the Club hotel, then at the Whicklow, then back at the club, then over at the Kilda, before arriving at Tatts, before finding our resting place for the evening at the Newie. We hung around for a good couple of hours before deciding that the pub was dead and headed back to Lozza'a flat for a night cap. After a good half hour, we decided to treck it over to Nicks place in -1 degree temperatures.
For the rest of the evening we were highly entertained by the company of Sarah, Nick, and a few others. Highlight of the evening would have to be the game of Bolle` at 4am in the backyard in freezing temperatures. I love the Spontaneous moments of life.
Loz and Jez, ready to hit the town.

Loz and I didn't wander through the door till 7am, Loz still wearing Nicks jacket and both of us falling into bed, not even stirring until around 3pm today.
and how exactly was I woken? By the snuggled, stirrings of Dizzy, Tims new little kitten. He bought him about 2 days ago, one of the members of the 'last chance club' with the RSPCA. Dizzy is absolutely beautiful, with an incredibly affectionate and loving personality, I don't understand why he was still there for so long. But alas, we now have the pleasure of his company.

Mondays.

Mondays....Mondays, what a glorious day of the week.

I worked my timetable this year so I have no class on mondays, or fridays WoOt for 4 day weekends!!

At around 12pm today I rolled over lazily, as the sun streamed across my bed. For the next 15-20 minutes I dozed softly as I streched and sighed myself to a waking state.
I emerged from my room as around 1pm and wandered slowly down the hall to make myself a cup of green tea. As I re-entered my room to the soft hum of Emiliana Torrini singing "Today has been okay" my mobile buzzed lightly on my desk

Bree: 1:08pm; Hey Jez, just wondering if you've made your online posting for the week? remember, it's gotta be in by 5pm. Not sure why I messaged you this week, just had this feeling you'd forget. ah well, see ya 2moz.

So glad she decided to message me. I had forgotten.
Grabbed my student card and headed across to the Wrights Village comp. labs, and the stupid swipe machine wouldn't let me in!
Grabbed my car keys and decided to treck it up top. Turns out it was the best thing I could have decided to do.

As I'm wandering towards the Library, I hear this scratchy voice shrieking "Shut your mouth!" Turned around to find Tess grinning broadly behind me. She was of course quoting Rhen, which had me shaking my head due to the quinky-dink of it all. As I finished up my hug with Tessa, turned and there coming towards me was Rhen herself! crazy place, Uni is.
The gals headed up to the cafe, but I decided to not push my luck and decided to head up and do my online posting before anything else went wrong.
Of course there were no computers free, so I headed up to the next level of the library, and managed to find one of the catalogue pc's which apparantly are only to be used for cataloguing purposes. Well, today they were let loose on the internet! Yeeehaaa!
I'm sure that I'm not the first person to use them for something which they were not intended for. There was also a 5 minute limit on them, I was there for around an hour. No one else was waiting, so I figured I was cool.

Left the library and was headed up to the Cafe to see if, by chance, the girls were still there, and who should I bump into, but my dear friend Lozza! she convinces me to walk her to her class, attempts to convince me to actually come into her class. I nearly did, till I discovered who her lecturer was and more over, that they were doing comp work. I knew that I would end up on messenger or checking emails and would promptly be kicked from the class. So instead here I am. In the room next door.

HAHA!

Oh how I ammuse myself. Just went for a walk past Lozza's window, on my way to the toilet. Didn't realise that Tims in there too. On my way back I spent a couple of minutes ammusing the pair by doing escalators, lifts and stairs in front of the little window. Twas cool, till other people started watching and the laughs began to draw the attention of the lecturer, who I know for a fact generally doesn't get my humour. Needless to say I decided, enough was enough.

So yes. I'm waiting for Loz and Tim to finish their class at 5pm. I'll give Loz a lift back to her place. Tim will have his motorbike with him so he won't need one.
Loz offered to cook me dinner this evening, which works out beautifully for two reasons, one: I had no idea what I was going to eat, and two: I'll never say no to free food :D

Tomorrows the last night [for the term] of small group. so we'll be doing pizza and all that Jazz, should be fun. We've finally started getting more blokes along, which is awesome. 6 guys and 7 girls last week, very cool.

Anywhooo, hopefully that should keep Belle from nagging me for a little while :P I finally blogged!
that all you wanted to know girl? Life stuff?
Anything else, let me know...I'll blog upon request too! :P [the things I do for a pretty face like that!]

Upon Request.

A friend asked me to put more piccies of the new hair up. Thanks Waje for snapping these, so they'll have to do.

who knew hair was so fascinating.

Out with the Old, in with the New.

So I decided a change was in order.

If you know me well, then you know that I'm generally willing to have a go at most things I feel like doing with my hair. Afterall, it is hair, and unlike some male bloggers I have the pleasure of knowing, mine_will_grow back. ;) [alright, alright, lets keep it above the waist shall we, or I'll end up with a broken jaw :P]

and so, I decided on friday afternoon, that I had stuck with the colour red for too long.

The new colour is a dark brown. To the untrained eye one may say black - but alas it is a brown. It actually turned out darker than I expected, and I'm still unsure as to whether I really like it or not. But it's a change and a change is as good as a holiday. (I doubt it, but a change is good)

.....

Best Part of my week?

Revelations.

I've been sitting here for about 5 minutes, trying to hold in a laugh as the bloke on the computer beside me picks his nose, then spends the next 10 seconds examining it, before wiping it down the front of his pants. I wonder if he even realises how disgusting that habit really is...

Last night Was a night of clarification it seems.
Headed along to bible study at Nicks and Waje's - only Nick and Waje weren't there, Laura and I were holding fort this week, as Waje headed out and Nick is spending the week on holiday in Coffs Harbour [Lucky bugger!]

We've been looking at a series of DVD teachings by John Bevere entitled "Drawing closer: True intimacy with God"
Last nights topic really settled some ponderings of my own heart. He was speaking on the fear of God.
Now this is something I've heard time and time again, yet never completely grasped. When the word 'fear' is spoken my little pea-brain human mind, creates this understanding on a world level. Fear: A feeling of agitation and anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger.
I guess for a long time I've really struggled with the whole issue of a healthy God fear, because I just can't bring myself to a place where I dread God. [I know thats a good thing].
I decided a long time ago that the fear of God which we, his children are called into, is that of Extreme reverence or awe of utter respect brought into being by an understanding of just who he is. God, Jahovah, Messiah, Alpha-omega... - and that, I know I have.

In the back of my mind however, as John spoke, I really started to question; do I live my life in such a way that nurtures my healthy fear. Then John spoke these words: "People who fear the Lord are willing to be obedient to him, even if they cannot understand or see the goodness of his plan."
I felt the goosebumps. In the last 4 days I could see area's where I struggled to understand yet chose to be obedient to God. I'm not trying to hold myself up as a saint, because all of you who know me, I who know myself and my God who knows me best of all, can see with little effort that I am a hopeless case- a bum on the street, who by nothing less than grace is slowly and humbly being polished into a Jewel of Gods keeping.

I was moved tremendously as John continued further, "God will not enter a place where he is not treated with the utmost respect...he is a holy God, a righteous King, he deserves to be treated as nothing less"
Have I been giving God that sort of respect in my life?!

The mob of us chatted for a while afterwards, which was great. I always appreciate the views of others, but more than that, I adore listening to people as they speak of it's applications within their lives. I love people!

I dropped Von and John[a newbie from Sudan] home and just as I began reversing out of the carpark, there was a loud thump on the back of the car. First reaction : WHAT THE HELL DID I HIT!!! I swing around to find the goofey face of Rhen staring in my window. We chatted for a while about this and that and everything else. That girl makes me laugh. she thought it was hilarious that her hitting the car had convinced me I'd hit something, we decided it would have been funnier if I had jumped out of the car and she were laying behind the back tyre, sprawled out on the road.
We bid each other farwell and as I started up the car I heard a loud thump - a smile crept up my cheeks, I knew exactly what to do - I lept out of the car in mock terror and ran round the back, and there was Rhen sprawled behind the back tyre, half her body under the car, leg twisted back to almost broken angles....I laughed so hard, the sight was much finer than I ever could have imagined.
Eventually we pulled ourselves together and Rhen raced off to meet Tess while I headed back to Waje's to chat with Laura.
laura confided that she'd missed me terribly today, to which I confessed I'd missed her so badly too! It's probably been the first day in about a week we hadn't spend a few hours chatting and laughing hysterically.
We came to the conclusion that IF ONLY one of us were male, we'de be married in a second. I love that girl :D

Eventually Waje came home and Loz and I left.

Tonight I head over to Riss's place. She's having a little 21st bash herself, because she has no inckling at all, that we're chucking a big surprise 21st Part-ay for her this saturday. Can't wait to see her face :D :P
So tonight, we grab pizza and head up to the stro.

It shall be tamed bliss. ;)

A New Day...

it's pretty amazing what God can do in a day.

At 4am this morning, in my groggy state, I send Laura a text asking that we could meet up and chat. By the time I woke at around 12pm I had completely forgotten. So instead there I lay moping and deciding that I would spend the day throwing a pity party for myself. Mobile starts ringing, Laura asks if I still want to meet up. I muster up all the advice I'd given to Waje about how locking yourself in your room in a depressive state really only makes you feel worse, and instead decide to head out and meet Laura.

I arrive at Laura's flat, which is one of those annoying ones that require a key to get in the main entryway. Security sound, yet friendly arrival annoying. After a little scrownching around in my bag, realise I don't have my mobile with me..."BUGGER!!"
So instead I go to stand on the other side of the road, giving me a clear view of the Balcony and Tims window, hoping desperately that Laura will see me eventually.
I probably waited there for close to 10 minutes and was just considering jumping in the car, heading home and grabbing my mobile when who should walk out the door, but Tim. The conversation suprised me with it's flow, really not as stunted and uncomfortable as I expected...but still not what I would class as a joy by any means. Laura apparantly headed out about half an hour ago - Tim gave her a ring for me, Thankyou!
I discover the girl mixed herself up, and gave me the wrong instructions. But I wander over to the "other" caffeines. This is going to sound so stupid, but I did get a little teary seeing Tim.

Laura the beautiful grabbed my arm the second she saw me and we walked the rest of the way linked together. As we spotted the cafe` along comes Nick, talking on his mobile. I swear everytime I see him in town he's on that mobile. We put on a bit of a show of Mock surprise, before he asks if he can chat for a min. Loz and I wait while he finishes on the phone. By the end of it there sat Laura, Nick and I in Caffeines.
It was fun, nice distraction really.
After probably an hour Nick headed off and Loz and I were left together to chat about the Tim situation. which was good, the more I talk to friends about it, the more I am convinced that I did the right thing.
God has asked me to be faithful to the convictions he has placed within me, and as desperately as I may not want to be sometimes, as hard as the flesh fights against me, I'm trying, I'm choosing and I'm living what he has called me to live. I don't want to sell out, I don't want to compromise. I swore that I would never do that twice. Yet I considered it anyway.
In one day I can see Gods blessings upon the decision. One of the fruits of the spirit is abundant joy - and today as I sat and chatted with Laura and Nick I felt that. Peace, Love...Gods annointing in my life. I KNOW that I made the right decision and I believe that God will honour that, I do not believe that it is a proud thing to say that I will have Gods annointing poured out on my life. If I am seeking him and his ways in me, if I am honouring and blessing him in my decisions with the sincere desire that his name be glorified. Well then I can know that he will be there and he will come through big time!

Another blessing. Something shifted with Nick today. For the first time we had a relaxed and comfortable conversation. No I'm not in love with him. In fact I believe more ardently that I have more than dealt with that. Laura noticed it too. "Jess I really feel God saying that because you've decided to be mature in your feelings for Nick, your ready to be friends with him" In fact the more I speak to Nick, the more I see two completely different people. I can appreciate him for who he is. But who he is, is not what I desire or need.

After lunch, Laura and I headed back to her flat to retrieve the belt I'd left there when I'd stayed over.
Tim arrived home. I decided to be brave. If I sincerely wanted friendship I had to be willing to be active in the persuit of it.

I wandered in and asked about my ellusive belt, he had no idea where it was, but we ended up chatting for quite some time. It was a little strange, a little awkward. But it loosened up once I verbalised what we were both feeling. And it's agreed, it will be awkward for a while, but we'll work our way through and we can hopefully be great friends. in time.

On my way home, I stopped in to see Waje. He'd complained of a sore throat, so I grabbed a box of Butter Menthols and popped my head in to say "G'day".
Planned to meet before Cell group tomorrow and have dinner. I'm cooking for the boy at 6 at his place. Then at 7 the mob will turn up for bible study. It'll be nice to have some old-day flat experiences with my boy waje.

So yes. A little bit of sadness still lingers. But I am blessed. I am glad that I made a decision to be faithful to what I know I needed. God is Good. Thankyou Lord for amazing friends, thankyou for the support you have placed within my life, thankyou for the joy you fill me with, the spirit of life which makes all things bearable in your strength.

Thankyou friends for your prayer and your wisdom.

A Letter...

I wanted to share this here. A dear friend wrote it a couple of days ago. I thought it was amazing. It is my hope, that it will encourage you too.

"I read your blogs and your page. I was so, so glad to know that you are serving Christ and loving Jesus. I make a distinction not because Christ and Jesus are separate individuals, but because Jesus, the Christ, is both man and God. In the nature of the Man we can approach Him as a brother and fellow sufferer. As Christ, He is literally Lord and Governor over all created things. All at once we approach with serving love and subservient, due fear.
Have you ever thought what the opposite of love is? The quick response may be hate, but hate is better called the enemy of love. The real opposite of love is fear. Love trusts entirely, even blindly, yet fear trusts nothing. That is why scripture says, "perfect love casts out all fear."
Amongst mankind we are not afforded a chance to truly love other humans because men are simply too untrustworthy. Scripture calls us to be wise, and so perfect love is currently impossible. We have reasons to fear.
With Christ comes the opportunity for true love. Jesus commanded us to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your mind, and all your strength." What does it mean to love the Lord? The command is not to do a certain number of devotions or prayers, or sing so many songs while sharing Christ with so many people. All of these things are the fruit and evidence of the love, but they are not love itself.
In being commanded to love God you have been called to fulfill one word - trust. Loving God is trusting Him so perfectly that nothing is frightening. As a patient trusts the skilled hands of a surgeon, so much more does perfect love believe in the goodness and ability of our benevolent God. Perfect love expels fear to the point of unbelievable bravery.
What is the evil man, that we should fear him?! What is food, that we should hunger?! When water and air have failed, as I gasp for life, what then do I gasp for? Water and air and food are only the means through which God continues our earthly ministry. When He has taken these things it is not abandoning. Death, suffering, need - these are the vehicles by which we enter eternity! Praise God for the approach of them!
What a mighty God! Before Him we are dust at the foot of an infinite furnace. We are dust that He notices and loves with the infinity of His goodness. After all of this spectacular created world has been removed and when one third of the glorious angels have been forever disgraced into oblivion, I will be preserved. A thousand, ten thousands, uncountable eons away, my once-filthy soul will be a jewel of His keeping. We are the treasures of His grace and the evidence of undeserved love.
Take care. I have prayed for you for a long time."

a long winded explanation.

Alright, so I'll flash back a little, to wednesday.

I woke at 10 and walked the hill with Riss. Meant that I got there about an hour and a half early, but as far as I'm concerned, it was worth it - I absolutely adore Riss's company. We were flatties during first year as we were both terrified and alone in the big world. I shared with her one of those rare clickages, which was instant, and I haven't stopped loving her since.

So I ammused myself in the Library, before in my restlessness [sometimes I think I have ADHD. Either that, or worms :P] I decided to take myself for a wander around the Uni. As I wandered out the electronic glass doors, who should I come across but Riss and Lisa. Class had been cancelled and so we headed off for a Coffee. I hate the Cafeteria at Uni - each new year it swarms with a whole new batch of freshers, who smother the place. For the experienced, they know that the best place to head is into the Bistro, next door, up the stairs where you'll find a million couches in a dimly lit, Jazz bar, style setting. Best seats in the Uni.

Headed off to Computers. Which basically entailed sitting and listening to Tony ramble on about how much he loves his Apple Comp. Riss and I shared the extra chair at the table as a footstool and played "Naughts and Crosses", followed by "boxes" and finally "make something out of the squiggle" untill the hour finally ended.
We trecked back down the hill, ammusing ourselves with our ridiculous babblings.

Loz had messaged me the previous night, to meet for Coffee at "Caffiends" which quickly expanded into Nachos as well - I swear, it was the greatest Nachos ever! Big call I know ;)
Turns out there was a bit of a hidden agenda to the invitation. Loz wanted to chat about Tim, her flatmate and friend - who apparantly was interested in getting to know me better. It would be a lie to say that I wasn't flattered. I'd met Tim a number of times, and I appreciated his company greatly, very easy to talk to, warm and friendly. But at the same time something in me lurched. I don't think I can help it. While I've dealt with the issues of my last relationship, my gut still cops it a bit when the thought of another relationship emerges.
Fear, yes there is fear there.
Fear that I'll be hurt again. But perhaps more than that, fear that such concern will pralyse me to great experiences.
I was really glad Loz was there actually, as I was able to talk it through. Came to the conclusion that for now we'll Leave it up in the air and see where it falls. Be cool, calm and collected.

Thus the reason for my last post. Prayer for Wisdom. Yes, Wisdom.
Lord don't let me be a complete idiot.

Headed back to Laura's flat after lunch together, which meant we had to pass my car parked beautifully near the pedestrian crossing. That park represented the first Parrallel-reverse-park I've done since my driving exam. Three moves on this occasion, however only one move during my driving exam :P.

made it back to Loz's flat, which was empty - I'm pretty sure I sighed, I wasn't really looking forward to seeing Tim just yet, out of fear, it may be weird.
Loz and I sat about chatting- oh man, she had me laughing so hard the whole afternoon, so that by the time Suzii [other female flattie] and Tim got home, I was feeling incredibly relaxed and so relieved that there was no weirdness there at all, if anything it was smoother than it's ever been.

Upon looking at her watch and realising it was 7pm. Loz declared that we should go to the 'stro' tonight. Feeling high spirited, we all quickly agreed - drinks were consumed before we headed off in a Taxi. Destination 'Stro' . Arrived just before 10:30, which meant that we got in for free, any later and it would have cost us $10 a pop.

As we wandered about the place I initially whined to Loz that I knew no one here, but as we left the building to join the bustle on the verandah I quickly realised that there were familiar faces everywhere. Caught up with Lisa[last years flatmate, aka mum] and Jo[one of my first year flatmates who I hadn't seen since] Moved along to bump into Sam [Current Flattie] and finally met her boyfriend whom I introduced myself with the statement "So your the boy!" only to have him return with "I'm no boy, I'm a MAN!" ammused me highly. Kept on wandering, untill I came across Pete, ragged him about standing with his friends, which pretty much consisted of 2 cans of Jack Daniels - chatted briefly. Tracked down Laura and Tim, met some freshers. Feeling a little bored, when along came Dan [The Man] and Luke. Chatted to the two of them for close to an hour, utterly consumed by the conversation. Spotted Droopy[one of the security blokes who Bec and I have habitually eaten lunch with on a thursday] He gave me a brief salute. Pete returned and planted his butt on the table beside me. Chatted less briefly this time. pottered across to chat with Justin, before Pete returned again with another can of Jack, having never tried it, I did the shameful Kindy Kid thing and said "Does that taste any good?" to which Pete rolled his eyes before smirking and handing over the can :P.
Before I really knew it, the night was all but over, and they started the rounds, letting us know we needed to head out an exit.
Headed up to the free bus, in the hope there may be a chance they pop us in town. The Bus usually makes a free dash to the colleges - CHEER! the driver says he'll take the college trip, then swing back round and grab the 10 of us and drop us in town. So we wait.
Laura has me in stiches as she bites chunks out of Gum leafs and blows them noisily in an attempt to send them flying as far as possible, while Tim chats away to the 10 security guys standing about. Oh yes, we were defintiely safe. Apparantly they don't all have to stay, but they do, so they get paid for the time they really aren't doing anything other than socialising.

Jump on the bus, Loz and I dash for the back seat. Before Tim encourages us to sit closer to the front so the bus driver can be told where to drop us.
Loz immediately gets hit on by a 40-something bloke, who had drunk enough that evening to believe her when she stated that her name was Audrey Hepburn.
We hop off at the Kilda, Loz's admirer hops off one stop after us and we can hear him yelling "AUDREY!" right up till we walk through the flat door. Loz definitely made an impression.

We head in, all with the munchies big time, cook up some Bacon, eggs, sausages and pies...OH MY GOODNESS, was that good or what!

Finally head to bed at around 6am, shared the double. Great matress, slept like a baby. Woke at around 8am and decided that I'd skip my non-compulsory subjects for the day, which meant I lounged around in bed till close to 1pm
Loz and I convinced Tim to join us for lunch/afternoon tea/dinner at Caffeinds... fun.

Here's my issue. I do like Tim.
He's asked me to come over tomorrow night for a bit of a chat. Which will be good. A chance to sort some idea's about each other.

We'll see. If anything, right now, I see Tim being a great friend. Perhaps not boyfriend material. But a great friend no less.

Prayer is always, always appreciated.
